The East Bridgewater Public Library offers notary services to the public free of charge. Our notary is available limited hours during the week. We strongly encourage confirming the availability of the notary in advance by contacting the library at 508-378-1616 or making arrangements in advance by emailing jfinn@sailsinc.org.
The following guidelines apply:
- All signers of the document must be present for notarization and must provide valid, government-issued photo identification.
- We are unable to notarize documents which require legal or financial expertise such as: deeds, trusts, immigration forms, I-9 forms, mortgages, or other real estate documents.
- Some public documents cannot be copied and notarized as being “official/certified” documents, such as birth, death, and marriage certificates. These documents should be obtained from a Town Clerk's Office.
- Wills should include a self-proving affidavit confirming the testator is present and competent.
- Documents in any language other than English cannot be notarized at this facility.
- In accordance with Massachusetts Notarial Law, notaries will not provide service if the customer, document, or circumstances of the request for notary service raise any issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt, or uncertainty. In this event, the notary may, at their sole discretion, decline to provide notary services.
