In 1829, Cushing Mitchell and Seth Bryant constructed this building, the first one built for the manufacture of shoes. It stood on the south west corner of Bedford and West Streets. At a later day, shoe manufacturing was carried on by I. N. Keith. It is now a vacant lot where the tanning mill stone is now located. Across Bedford St. from the Elmwood Post Office.
